Art and Soul on Capitol Hill is an unlikely beer spot. But that is what I like about it. A gourmet restaurant with a good beer list as well as special beer events and a beer pairing menu!
For the month of October, in honor of Oktoberfest bringing more attention to beer, the southern roots restaurant is offering a fixed price beer pairing menu featuring locally brewed beers.
The menu includes Beer Steamed Mussel featuring chilies, fennel, tomato, Penn Weizen beer and a black pepper buttermilk biscuit on the side paired with a Penn Weizen brew from Pennsylvania. For the main course they're offering Cider Braised Pork Shank with black eyed pea stew, spicy collard greens, apples and fennel paired with an Oktoberfest Lager from Delaware. For desert they are serving Chocolate-Stout Pudding Cake with pear butter, chewy caramel, and cinnamon cream paired with a Milk Stout beer from North Carolina.
The beers are:
- Penn Weizen from Pennsylvania Brewing Company Pittsburgh, PA
- Octoberfest Lager from Old Dominion Brewing Company Dover, DE
- Milk Stout from Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery, Farmville, North Carolina
The price is $45 per person. Not bad for 3 beers and a gourmet meal! Art and Soul is located near Union Station Metro at 415 New Jersey Ave., NW.
